Our Story

Why Shugo exists.

  • We struggled with discipline — revenge trading, breaking our own rules.

  • So we built an internal tool to pressure-test every trade before taking it.

  • It forced us to articulate the trade, check the levels, confront the edge.

When we saw how much it changed our process, we decided to share it.

The Problem

90% of trading losses aren't from bad analysis. They're from ignoring it.

You know the rules. You break them anyway.

Emotional discipline is the hardest part of trading. FOMO and revenge trades quietly drain your account even when your analysis is right.

One timeframe isn't the full picture.

A clean 5-minute setup means nothing if the 4-hour is screaming against you. Missing higher timeframe context kills setups that look perfect in isolation.

No framework = no consistency.

Without a repeatable methodology, every trade is a fresh guess. Consistency comes from structure — knowing exactly what a valid setup looks like before the heat of the moment.

The Difference

Trading without a filter is just gambling.

Without Shugo
  • Entering trades based on feel, not structure
  • No invalidation price — you move the stop
  • Checking only one timeframe
  • Revenge trading after a loss
  • No record of what you did or why
  • Rules exist. You break them anyway.
With Shugo
  • Every trade pressure-tested before entry
  • Invalidation defined before you enter
  • Structure confirmed across all timeframes
  • Emotional state logged and flagged
  • Full journal of decisions and outcomes
  • The framework makes the decision, not the emotion

How It Works

Three steps. One honest verdict.

Step 01

Upload your charts

Attach 1–6 chart screenshots tagged to a timeframe — from the daily down to the 1-minute. Shugo reads structure across all of them.

Step 02

Enter your levels

Tell us the instrument, direction, entry price, stop loss, and take profit. Add notes to explain your thesis.

Step 03

Get your verdict

The AI returns a structured assessment: setup quality, key levels, invalidation price, R:R ratio — and an honest rating.

Features

Everything a disciplined trader needs.

Multi-timeframe analysis

Higher timeframes set the bias, lower timeframes refine the entry.

1D4H1H15m5mbias flows down

Invalidation detection

The exact price that breaks your thesis — structurally grounded.

INVALIDATION28,347.00

Risk/reward evaluation

Flags setups where the math doesn't support the risk.

Emotional temperature

Flags overtrading before the damage compounds.

Trade journal

Every analysis saved. Track how verdicts matched reality.

Key support & resistance

Zones with context: prior highs, demand areas, liquidity pockets.

Indicator awareness

RSI, MACD, any overlay — reads the state and factors it in.

The Verdict

This is what your trade gets back.

Not a signal. Not a prediction. A structured read of your setup — so you can decide with your eyes open.

Possible outcomes

CLEAN SETUP

Structure aligns across timeframes, levels are clear, edge is present.

REASONABLE

Tradeable but with caveats — some confluence missing or timing is off.

WEAK

Setup exists but the math or structure doesn't support the risk.

NO EDGE

No discernible edge. Taking this trade is gambling, not trading.

One of four verdicts — no sugar-coating

Methodology & Resources

Built on proven methodology.

Grounded in the frameworks of professional traders and performance psychologists.

Core Methodology

The First Trading Manual

Tom Hougaard

The primary foundation of Shugo's analysis rules — a systematic framework for reading market structure and identifying where a thesis is invalidated.

Trading Psychology

Best Loser Wins

Tom Hougaard

The market punishes normal human behaviour. To win consistently, you have to act in ways that feel deeply uncomfortable.

Emotional Framework

The Psychology of Trading

Dr. Brett Steenbarger

Shaped how we think about emotional state and performance cycles — the inspiration behind Shugo's emotional temperature tracking.

Tom Hougaard

A professional trader who has traded live in front of thousands of people — his core thesis: the market punishes normal human behaviour.

Dr. Brett Steenbarger

Performance psychologist and trader whose work makes clear that tracking how you feel — not just what you trade — is part of the edge.

Shugo is an independent product and is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or associated with Tom Hougaard or Dr. Brett Steenbarger. We reference their published books as influences, with gratitude and respect for their work.
